I recently started working with a new client, and wanted to tell you a bit about her and her business. I'm a massive advocate of mental well-being and looking after your mind, so it's awesome to be working with Christine to bring her services to more people.
The following is a short excerpt from Christine’s Frequently-Asked-Questions section… check it out if you are in the Oakville, Toronto area.
One person's experience in therapy may be different from others depending on the issues and goals just to name a few.
When you meet the therapist whom you consider a right fit for you, you will naturally feel comfortable to discuss the current events happening in your life and your personal history relevant to your current issue(s). You are expected to feel a wide range of emotions during the therapy sessions; you may feel happy, sad, numb or even angry. Whatever emotion comes up, it is neither good nor bad. It is a part of the healing process. The most important thing is that you are honest with your feelings and openly share with me so that I can help you work through those emotions.
It is crucial to understand that you will get more results from therapy if you actively participate in the process. The ultimate goal of therapy is to help you to bring what you learn from therapy back into your life. Therapy is like learning how to fish not just getting fish. I may suggest things you do outside of therapy to support your progress. This can be journaling, noting particular behaviours or even going for a 30 minute walk. The more work you put into the more benefit you get out of therapy.
